Finally, some casting developments in the highly anticipated return of the Hong Sisters in dramaland! Cha Seung-won (Splendid Politics) and Oh Yeon-seo (My Sassy Girl) have both signed on to be part of tvN’s upcoming fantasy drama Hwayugi.

This will be Cha Seung-won’s reunion project with the acclaimed writing duo, after their successful team-up in 2011 MBC drama series Greatest Love.

Hwayugi is a modern twist on the ancient Chinese novel Journey to the West. Cha Seung-won will play the entertainment agency CEO Wang Woo-ma (Bull Demon King), while Oh Yeon-seo is set to play the female lead Jin Sun-mi, an anti-social real state officer who will get stuck in a love triangle with male lead Son Oh-gong and Wang Woo-ma.

Lee Seung-gi is still in talks for the role of Son Oh-gong or the Monkey King.

Hwayugi will premiere on tvN in mid-December.
