Some secrets were revealed but there are still questions left unanswered.

Secrets unveiled

Lee Gwang-jae (Cha Tae-hyun) finally discovered Lee Ji-hoon (Kim Min-jae) is lying about his studies. He hasn’t been able to celebrate his birthday because of it. I understood where he is coming from since I believe he genuinely cares for Ji-hoon’s future but I would side with Yoo Hyun-jae (Yoon Si-yoon) on this matter. It’s the only thing Hyun-jae want and Gwang-jae, as his father, should be the one supporting his dreams. Anyway, he redeemed himself when he scolded CEO Park Young-jae (Hong Kyung-min) for not being able to see Ji-hoon’s potential as an idol trainee. He did it and threw their chance of saving their building.

The other J2 member

Speaking of CEO Park, while Gwang-jae and Lee Soon-tae (Lee Deok-hwa) were asking him for money, I kind of see his grievances to his former agency. He was always overshadowed by the talented Hyun-jae and that, I understand, is frustrating. But still not enough reason to steal someone else’s creative work. He should have realized that he doesn’t have a knack on composing or at least, he is not as great as Hyun-jae. As much as I want to hate his character as the series’ villain, I just can’t help but find him amusing instead. I know I laugh too easily but CEO Park’s somewhat idiotic greed is hilarious.

The suspect

Hyun-jae is still looking for clues about his disappearance and his hidden money. On a fan website he joined, CEO Park and Gwang-jae were listed as suspects in his disappearance. I already suspect CEO Park but not Gwang-jae. And as it turned out, the former didn’t steal Hyun-jae’s money. It was just Hyun-jae’s songs that he stole. On the other hand, I don’t think Gwang-jae is in anyway involved. But this is K-dramaland where nothing is a coincidence. It must be a foreshadowing of some sort or a way to deviate Hyun-jae’s “investigation” (I will call it that way now since he created a board to sort out his clues and theories.)

Frustrating friendship

I like how Ji-hoon learned from this episode that telling the truth is much better. He stood up for his friends when his father wants them to leave the loft. He also slowly realizing staying friends with Choi Woo-seung (Lee Se-young) and hiding his romantic feelings is frustrating. My only hope now is that he is not yet too late.

Maknae’s episode verdict

I love how this drama balances the wackiness in its storyline. A comedy series sometimes focuses too much on its humor that it sometimes sacrifices how the story goes. But not for The Best Hit. Despite all of its outlandish plot, its characters and their troubles are still compelling.
