This K-Drama drunkard noona is so stressed right now (a member of my favorite boy group is in a big mess) so I’ve decided to look at Ruler: Master of the Mask Ep 19-20 through the scenes that made me say omona (oh my gosh).
Tipsy Omona Moments
- Grandpa over Hwa-gun
(Omona Level: Heavy Breathing)
This scene shows that the student has not become greater than the teacher. Master Dae-mok is too smart and knows that Hwa-gun is up to something when she offered herself to be Pyunsoo-hwe’s new leader.
I’m curious if Hwa-gun can keep up her act and will be able to fool her grandfather, or the old man will prove that he still got new tricks up his sleeves.
- Unveiling Mae-chang
(Omona Level: I told you so!)
Okay, my guess is right that Mae-chang is not on disguise whe she entered the palace as a court lady, because she is one, and with a high rank if I may add. Also, she admitted to Ga-eun that she drew the map leading to Pyunsoo-hwe’s poppy field.
Though she said that she meant no harm to the chief peddler and even revealed that the field is in Gyeonggi province, I’m dumbfounded by her statement that she drew the map “not because of her will but she had to.”
- The Fake King and his Lie
(Omona Level: Eye roll)
I felt uneasy, to say the least, when Commoner Lee Sun denied to the crown prince that he knows about Ga-eun entering the palace as a court lady.
The greed is starting to kick in. I hope Commoner Lee Sun will sort his thoughts in the next episodes. Oh, and let me say that L’s stare is scary, good job!
- Commander Blabbermouth
(Omona Level: What the hell!?)
Two things I’m sure about: first, General Jae-heon has a great army; and two, he also has a big mouth. I know he has good intentions, but, geez, I find it imprudent that he immediately told the Queen that the king is a fake. Oh well, maybe he’s just too loyal to the royal family. Who am I to judge him anyway.
- Mae-chang and the Man Behind the Door
(Omona Level: WTF)
I have a feeling in the last episode that Mae-chang used to be like Yang who picks poppy flowers for Pyunsoo-hwe and I was right. Moreover, she was rescued by her father, and just who could her appa be? It’s the Chief Eunuch!
Okay, so let’s get things straight. Mae Chang’s father is the Chief Eununch who is also the person behind the door. She wants to help Crown Prince Lee Sun and drew the map but her dad is against it. But aren’t eunuchs castrated before they enter the palace? Please enlighten me, because I remember from Moonlight Drawn by Clouds that one of Hong Ra-on’s biggest dilemma at the start of drama was castration. So did the Chief Eunuch had her before he entered the palace, or maybe she’s adopted or a secret child, perhaps? I know it’s not the biggest issue here but my darn curiosity is making me restless. Uggghhh.
Going back, I hope the Chief Eunuch will see the light later on and aid the crown prince in reclaiming what’s rightfully his.
I’m a fan of Crown Prince Lee Sun and Ga-eun, but my heart had some mini thumps during this scene. 😍
Here’s a feel-good OST from Ruler: Master of the Mask, You and me From the Start by Bolbbalgan4. Enjoy!
Fave line: I’ll be your reason
As if it was always you and me from the start
I’m seriously hoping that Commoner Lee Sun will not be overpowered by his affection for Ga-eun and do the right thing in the next episodes. See you, annyeong!
