They say love knows no boundaries, and I think Hwa-gun can be the perfect epitome of this.
Let’s walk through Ruler: Master of the Mask Ep 17-18 on how far Master Dae-mok’s spunky granddaughter went for love.
Jjak Sarang (One-sided Love)
We can all agree that Crown Prince Lee Sun would have been dead by now if not for Hwa-gun. It will be a total surprise if he’s in danger and she’s not there to save his royalness. But her dedication for him in this episode just reached new heights.
Hwa-gun made a bargain with Master Dae-mok and offered herself to be Pyunsoo-hwe’s new leader in exchange of the chief peddler’s life. Knowing Hwa-gun, she must be up to something to have this kind of deal with her grandfather.
At this rate, I don’t know how long Hwa-gun can fight for her unrequited love. Her poor heart definitely took a stab after seeing Crown Prince Lee Sun and Ga-eun together, but I salute her strength and determination.
Mae-chang, Puzzles and Drawings
The beautiful kisaeng won’t let me rest with her mysterious character and puzzling persona.
Obviously, Yang did not draw the map of Pyunsoo-hwe’s poppy field, but how did Mae-chang know exactly where Master Dae-mok’s plantation is? Let me just say that her singing to the dying Yang gave me the creeps.
I’m still not sure if she will aid in Crown Prince Lee Sun’s battle or will be another fence to climb.
Gon x Hwa-gun
Don’t mind this, it’s just me low-key wishing that Gon is in love with Hwa-gun. Been having this kind of feeling for several episodes now, to be honest.
Tipsy’s Omona Moments
Curse you petal! I thought we’re going to have our first kiss!
I thought there will be a warm reunion this episode but Master Dae-mok caught Commoner Lee Sun visiting his family. Oh, and this is the first time that the Lee Suns saw each other after everyone believed that the crown prince is dead.
Yoo Seung-ho’s cute expressions in this scene made me smile from ear to ear.
Sweeter More Painful the Second Time Around
Ruler Master of the Mask Ep 17-18 ended with this heart-breaking scene. Ga-eun decided to enter the palace as a court lady leaving Crown Prince Lee Sun heart broken. Thank you Ga-eun for giving the crown prince false hope that you can now be together, just thank you.
Did you know that both Yoo Seung-ho and Kim So-hyun starred in the 2012 MBC drama Missing You/I Miss You?
Yoo Seung-ho took the role of Harry Borrison, the second male lead, while Kim So-hyun played the younger version of Yoon Eun-hye.
Let’s try to find out how Hwa-gun’s deal with Master Dae-mok will turn out in the next episode. I’m also excited to find out more about Mae-chang, how ’bout you? See you on the next episode. Annyeong!
