Looks like Jo In-sung is staying in the movieworld for now, because after his political crime thriller, The King, he has now confirmed headlining historical film, Ansi Fortress.

Jo In-sung is set to play the role of legendary hero Yang Manchun of Ansi who will hold the people together throughout the attack on the fortress and subsequent siege. Lee Byung-heon was initially offered the role but declined due to his busy schedule.

It is also reported the Park Bo-gum has been offered a supporting role but hasn’t signed on yet. The two actors had already done historicals in the past: Jo In-sung in A Frozen Flower and Park Bo-gum in The Admiral: Roaring Currents. Though this is expected to be a war movie, a bromance between the leads won’t hurt, right?

Ansi City is set to be produced by Studio NEW, the same production behind blockbusters, Descendants of the Sun and Train to Busan.

Filming is set to begin later this year.
